That Was Then, This Is Now
On June 16, 2017, we opened our doors to the public with an Open House event. Nearly a year later, quite a bit has changed—and not just the fact that we finally have due-date cards at the back of the books. (Though that’s a bigger change than you’d think. Now you know when you’re book is due and you can store your library card in the little pocket.)
Here’s where we were last year, holding our Open House in our original space:
It was great to have a physical space but rough being tucked into a second-story corner with no signage outside to let people know we were there. (It was also a super long walk to the restroom.)
When we held that open house, we had 208 books on our shelves.
We’re about to Re-Open House, in a new space with street frontage, big windows, more space, and the ability to have free coffee and tea available for visitors. We’ve got a few more bookshelves coming in before the grand re-opening, as well as a kid’s area to put together. Our collection has grown to 438 books (and counting), plus periodicals, pamphlets, and zines. We’re all super excited about the library’s new home, and we can’t wait for you to come see it.
Our re-opening is June 16, 2018, from noon to 6:30 pm. The address is 419 W. Market Street, Johnson City, TN.
