Political Education Study Group – Socialist Feminism
February 21 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The discussion topic is Socialist Feminism. We will also have our first “local labor history” mini lead-off, which will be on the role of women in the 1929 textile strikes in Elizabethton.
Here are some short articles to introduce you to the concept of socialist feminism:
“What is Socialist Feminism?” by Barbara Ehrenreich (author of “Nickled and Dimed”)
“Socialist Feminism in the 21st Century”
by Johanna Brenner
“For a Feminist Socialism”
by Simone Morgen of DSA
And because feminism isn’t just cis-feminism:
“Unpacking Transphobia in Feminism” by Emma Allen of Radical Women
“Gender Performance: The TransAdvocate interviews Judith Butler”
“Sex, Gender, and Sexuality: The TransAdvocate interviews Catharine A. MacKinnon”
